Custom built-ins, made to fit

A built-in is furniture made for one wall in one house. I build shelving, wall units and mudroom pieces in my Baltimore shop to your measurements, from a single shelf to a full wall.

What I build

How it works

The wood

Oak, maple, walnut, cherry or reclaimed boards, chosen with you for the room. A built-in can also come from a tree that had to come down on your property. How a piece from your own tree works.

Cost and timing

Every built-in is quoted on its own, so there is no price list. Size, wood, and doors or drawers move the price, and I give you a timeframe with the quote.

Questions people ask

What does a custom built-in cost?
Every built-in is quoted to its own size, wood and details, so there is no price list. Send me photos and measurements and I will give you a number once we have settled the design.
What kinds of built-ins do you make?
Shelving from a single floating shelf to full wall units, mudroom built-ins, and pieces for awkward spaces like an alcove or the space under a stair.
Can you come and see the space?
Yes, I can come and look at it before we settle the design. Photos and rough measurements are the best place to start.
Can a built-in come from my own tree?
Yes. A tree that had to come down on your property can be milled and dried and come back as shelves or a mantel. It takes longer, because the wood dries first.
Where do you work?
I am based in Baltimore, and I collect trees and deliver across central Maryland and Washington DC.
